HOW CAN I GET MY PET REFERRED?
Referrals can only be arranged through your veterinary surgeon and we are unable to accept a referral directly from members of the public or to give advice to pet owners on cases that have not been referred.
If you feel that your pet might benefit from a specialist opinion then contact your own veterinary surgeon/practice and discuss referral with them. It may be that referral is not appropriate but this does not mean that we cannot be of help to you and your pet as we offer an advice service to veterinary surgeons as well as x-ray film reading, ECG interpretation and case reviews.
WHY CAN I NOT REFER MY PET DIRECTLY TO YOU?
Maximum benefit from a referral is achieved by accumulating a whole series of pieces of information about your pet. This includes your pet's previous medical history along with laboratory tests, radiographs, biopsy results etc that have already been obtained. This information is best provided directly to us by your own veterinary surgeon.
In many cases, following referral, long term management is best undertaken at your own practice in conjunction with advice from the referral specialist that has been dealing with your case.
For this whole system to work well, good communication and understanding of your pet's problem is essential and this involves you, the referral clinic and your own veterinary surgeon to be working together. |
